The Story of Team Johnson

Team Johnson was founded in 1998 by Brandon Johnson, a determined 18-year-old with a big dream and a bigger heart. Growing up with limited means, Brandon was driven to create a better life—not just for himself, but for his family and community. He started with a single dump truck and an unshakable work ethic. It didn’t take long before that one truck turned into a fleet.

Knowing he couldn’t do it alone, Brandon brought in his older sister, Bobby Jo Raftery, who has served as Vice President since day one. The two couldn’t have been more different in personality, but their partnership was a perfect balance of vision and execution. Together, along with a dedicated team, they built Team Johnson into one of Ohio’s largest and most respected trucking companies—with 68 dump trucks, 25 semis, and a reputation for reliability and hustle.

In 2015, the business expanded into a new headquarters in Delta, Ohio, to accommodate their growing operations. But Brandon was never one to stop at success. He was always dreaming, always innovating.

In 2016, when his youngest sister needed transportation for her wedding, Brandon discovered how expensive limo rentals could be. True to his entrepreneurial spirit, he bought one himself—and just like that, a new chapter began. What started as a thoughtful gesture quickly evolved into Team Johnson’s next big venture: Party Buses and Limousines. With wild, custom vehicles and unforgettable experiences, Team Johnson soon became Northwest Ohio’s go-to name for luxury transportation.

Never one to stay in just one lane, Brandon also launched Team Johnson Truck Wash, offering on-site cleaning services at the Delta facility and through a mobile unit that traveled to clients. The business continued to evolve with every passing year.

In 2021, Brandon took another bold step forward by purchasing his first charter bus. In that same year, he acquired a commercial property on Berdan Avenue in Toledo to support the new division and established Brandon Johnson Holdings, LLC. In 2022, he expanded even further, opening J&B Colonial Trailer Court, LLC. As the charter bus side of the business grew, Team Johnson’s identity shifted once more—this time into long-distance group transportation.

By 2024, Team Johnson’s charter bus fleet had expanded to 13 vehicles, proudly providing professional, nationwide transportation services to destinations like Washington, D.C., Chicago, Orlando, and New York City. The name "Team Johnson" became synonymous with quality, safety, and unforgettable travel experiences.

Tragically, on December 5, 2024, Brandon’s incredible journey was cut short in a car accident. But his legacy lives on.

Today, Brandon’s oldest son Landon Johnson, now 19, has joined forces with his aunt and longtime Vice President, Bobby Jo Raftery, to carry on what Brandon built. Together, they have vowed to honor his vision, grow his legacy, and continue serving the community with the same passion and drive that defined Brandon’s life.

Live for today, not tomorrow.

The Brandon Johnson Christmas Miracle

Christmas is a season filled with joy and togetherness—but for some families, unexpected challenges can make the holidays especially hard. Brandon Johnson had a deep love for Christmas and a passion for lifting others up during this meaningful time. In 2017, he launched what would become his lasting legacy: the very first Brandon Johnson Christmas Miracle.

Brandon’s vision was simple yet powerful—to unite small businesses and members of the local community to bring hope and joy to families in need. He spent countless hours listening to personal stories, identifying families who needed a helping hand, and organizing ways to make their Christmas special.

With Brandon leading the way, Team Johnson and other small local businesses began organizing annual shopping sprees, buying gifts for children and families at the Family House in Toledo. Year after year, the event grew—touching more lives, attracting more volunteers, and building a true movement of kindness.

What began as a single act of generosity expanded into something extraordinary. The Christmas Miracle eventually supported two local families each year, in addition to the Family House, providing rent assistance, groceries, presents, and more. Brandon made it his mission to ensure no family went without during the holidays.

In December 2024, after another successful Miracle event, Brandon tragically passed away on his way home. Just days earlier, he had shared plans with loved ones to grow the initiative even further. He dreamed of starting “Christmas Shenanigans”—random acts of kindness like paying for groceries, surprising gas station workers with gifts, and bringing joy to strangers on Christmas Day.

In honor of Brandon’s incredible heart and vision, the Johnson family has pledged to carry on his mission through the newly formed Brandon Johnson Christmas Miracle Foundation. Their goal is to keep spreading the generosity Brandon believed in—and to make each holiday season a little brighter for those who need it most.

If you’d like to be part of this growing tradition and help make a difference in a family’s life this Christmas, we invite you to get involved. Please call our office at 419-822-0269 to learn how you can support the Brandon Johnson Christmas Miracle.

Brandon Johnson: A Heart for Community

Brandon Johnson was more than a successful entrepreneur—he was a passionate supporter of the communities that helped shape him. Raised in Swanton, Ohio, Brandon proudly attended Swanton Schools, a place he credited for laying the foundation of the man he would become. He remained deeply involved with the district throughout his life, supporting countless fundraisers and serving as a dedicated annual judge for The Amazing Shake, one of Swanton Middle School’s most anticipated events.

Though Brandon was a Bulldog by birth, his heart expanded as his children began attending school at Patrick Henry. He embraced the Patriot community just as wholeheartedly, becoming an annual sponsor for both school districts. In 2022, he went a step further by creating a personal scholarship for Patrick Henry High School—awarding college funds each year to two deserving students who demonstrated hard work, resilience, and character.

While Brandon was widely known for his beloved Christmas Miracle, his generosity reached far beyond the spotlight. He believed deeply in lifting others up—especially his employees. If someone was struggling, Brandon stepped in without hesitation. He bought a car for a team member who had no transportation. He took employees who had never traveled on vacations with him—wanting them to experience life beyond work. He paid rent for those facing hardship and, in one case, even covered funeral costs for a former employee whose family couldn’t afford the service.

Brandon believed life was meant to be joyful, and he made it his mission to help others smile—whether through big gestures or quiet kindness. He led by example and created a workplace where compassion and laughter were just as important as hard work.

His dedication to service did not go unnoticed. In 2019, Team Johnson received the Community Leadership Award from the State of Ohio. A year later, Brandon was honored with the Delta Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award for his outstanding contributions to the local area.

Brandon was also a committed member of numerous civic and business organizations, including the Bowling Green, Perrysburg, Sylvania, Henry County, Delta, Maumee, Waterville, and Toledo Regional Chambers of Commerce. He was an active member of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and the Fulton County Economic Development Corporation, as well as several other networking and economic groups.

A legend never dies.

Brandon’s legacy is more than a story of business success—it’s a story of love, loyalty, and unwavering support for the people and places that mattered most to him.
