The Family House Christmas – 2020

Family House Christmas 2020
Team Johnson at the Family House - Christmas 2020
December 10, 2020
Team Johnson and Mavillino Homes sponsor families at Family House for the third year in a row.
Family House in Toledo hosted a special Christmas delivery on Thursday night.
With help from sponsors and the community, Team Johnson Limos and Mavillino Homes raised a record breaking $30,000 to buy gifts to give 48 children that live at Family House a better Christmas.
Typically, the children would sit together in a room and get their gifts, but because of COVID-19, families were able to have one-on-one time with Santa, instead.
"We're just glad we're able to do it. It feels good. Obviously, everyone gets so busy in their day to day, fast paced lives. COVID has kind of slowed that down and kind of humbled people. I think it's basically an eye opener that people do need a helping hand and care," said Matt Maxwell, the owner of Mavillino Homes.
Team Johnson and Mavillino homes also had a record breaking number of volunteers step up to help wrap gifts for the children.
The two companies are sponsoring more families ahead of the holidays.

Mother in Need Receives Christmas Miracle

Tristin Womach
Team Johnson helps mother in need - Christmas 2019
December 24, 2019
This season reminds us all to give generously and be kind to one another. On Christmas Eve, one man inspired by the spirit of Christmas, along with other local organizations, came together to make this holiday one that a Toledo family in need will remember forever.
Brandon Johnson first met Tristan Womack during the Team Johnson Holiday Giveback event at Family House last week. Johnson and his team provided children staying at the homeless shelter with toys for Christmas and visits to fun activities like Kalahari and Skyzone free of charge.
Womack and her three sons touched his heart, and Johnson wanted to do more, explaining, "They were so polite and so grateful, and so positive, when I got home I told my wife, we have to do something."
Since then, Johnson helped Tristan find a new job to get out of the shelter and back on her feet. This afternoon, Team Johnson met with the Womack family again, but this time, with more surprises. Team Johnson and other sponsors provided Tristan with a Christmas tree and more presents for the kids, plus a Dillard's shopping spree and a spa day to prepare for her new position. In addition, the Womack family will be starting off 2020 in a hotel with a pool on New Year's Eve. Their first month's rent in their new home has also been taken care of.
The biggest gift of all was a new set of wheels. A minivan with TV's in the back for Womack's kids has been paid for in full, with the cost of insurance, plates, oil changes, and gas cards completely covered. The family now has everything they need to get back on their feet.
"Christmas is all about giving, you know, to a family in need and that's what we wanted to do, been excited for this for two weeks just to see their face with the car," adds Johnson.
Tristan was still shocked, overwhelmed with the act of kindness, "With everything I've been going through and being in the shelter and trying to figure everything out to all of a sudden everything is just put together, and they made it happen, it's absolutely a Christmas miracle."

The Family House Christmas – 2019

Family House Christmas
Team Johnson at the Family House - Christmas 2019
December 13, 2019
Team Johnson Limo Service and Mavillino Homes raised $50,000 for the families at Family House to have a Christmas.
Seventy-one children unwrapped presents each of them asked for. Of course, Santa Clause made a special appearance. Games and sporting equipment for everyone to share at Family House were donated, too. Each child got tickets to a UT basketball game, plus passes to go bowling and visit Skyzone.
“It makes children understand they're not forgotten. Often times these are families that are truly down on their luck. They don't have and they wouldn't have Christmas,” said Dr. Tonya Pace, executive director of Family House.
The night ended with a limo ride to see Christmas lights in downtown Toledo and even after all of those surprises, there's more.
On Sunday, everyone got to enjoy the Kalahari water park for free. Smiles and happy tears filled Family House, serving as a humbling reminder of what Christmas is really all about.
